Samantha Samika painting of bodies dissolving into garden forms and plant life, ecofeminist artwork about embodiment and nature.

Art as experience.
Through installation, painting, and participatory spaces, bodies, landscapes, and communities connect.

Somatic practice in Studio Time

Porous Studio is the evolving practice of Samantha Samika, a visual artist and expressive arts therapist working at the intersection of embodiment, ecology, and relational experience. Rooted in painting and expanded through installation, video, and participatory environments, her work treats the body not as subject matter but as method—a site of perception, memory, and connection.

Through immersive spaces, guided actions, and sensory encounters, she invites participants to slow down, listen inwardly, and rediscover their connection toland, breath, and one another. Installations often function as temporary sanctuaries: places to move, rest, witness, and co-create meaning together.

Drawing from feminist and ecological thought, somatic practice, and her Mexican cultural lineage, Samika’s’projects weave the personal and the collective, the domestic and the planetary, the sacred and the everyday. Art becomes less an object to observe and more a shared field of experience—porous, alive, and participatory.

Porous Studio hosts artworks, collaborations, workshops, and gatherings that cultivate attention, care, and imaginative forms of belonging.

Collaboration is central to my practice. I work alongside artists, educators, and communities through processes of gathering, listening, and making together, where roles remain fluid and knowledge is shared. I welcome opportunities to co-create installations, curate projects, facilitate workshops, and develop collective, embodied approaches to art and healing.
